Rotten Pallet Concept

Just finished my a new rotten pallet concept to fit in with the barrels(Link) for a post-apocalyptic setting.

Tell me what you think! Should I refine it and put it in the asset store?

UPDATE: Decided to mess around with smart materials, this is what ive done so far!

Don’t know if the pallet is completely finished. Is the texture finished? (if it isn’t disregard the following).
The individual planks on top of a pallet is just that. Now it’s a pallet model with a texture slapped on.
You should make it so that each plank is only one plank texturally also. Also, now it looks as if it were glued together, you should add some nails to where different planks connect, crack the wood a bit near some of the nails. Lastly, some wear and tear (pallets are not made from top notch material and also get damaged in use), maybe some chipped wood hear and there and make the surface more uneven.
Otherwise it looks like a solid model, and seems to go well with the barrels you’ve made previously.

The current model i’m using was just a free asset I found to test textures, Ill definitely make a better model since I found that any texture I used with that one was just tiled weirdly and looked artificial also probably add some nails since pallets are nailed together and not just magically stuck together.

As for the wood, I will probably use a rotten wood texture with some degradation(something like termite rot or some chipping) and have a washed out effect since it will have presumably been untouched for multiple years.

Ahh, that makes sense. To avoid some flatness, maybe add some actual unevenness to the model, if it has been untouched for a long time, one would expect the degradation to be more visable and have depth. Good luck

Just modeled a new pallet, it doesn’t have any chipping or nails on the model but the smart material can handle that with a height map possibly for the chips.

This model also has better UVs than the other one so the textures shouldn’t be warped or tiled weirdly anymore.

I’ve intentionally made some of the boards slightly not line up on the edges since a real pallet isn’t completely aligned.

Textures are going pretty well, just need to tweak the nails and rotten parts a little bit and bake a textures.

Corners are too sharp and they look incredibly fake. You could try to add some more geometry to smooth them, or just try to fake a different appearance by using different textures/normals

If you mean sharp as in straight I was thinking about editing the model to take some small chucks out of the edges to make it look like it was chipped or broken at those spots.
