Run Desired Scene is a productivity tool for Unity that lets you start Play Mode from any target scene while keeping your current editing setup intact.
It is designed for projects with bootstrap scenes, main menus, and multi-scene setups where constant manual switching wastes time. Instead of navigating the Project window and reopening scenes every time you want to test, you can launch your project from any entry point and return exactly where you left off.
Why use it?
In many Unity projects, testing from the currently opened scene is impossible or inconvenient. You often need to:
- Start from a Bootstrap or Initialization scene.
- Test specific gameplay scenes without manually reopening them.
- Preserve your current scene layout and hierarchy while entering Play Mode.
- Launch multi-scene setups more conveniently.
Core Features
- Run Any Scene: Choose a target scene to run when entering Play Mode without opening it manually.
- Project Scene Runner: Adds a quick “Run” button directly to scene assets in the Project window for instant testing.
- Grouping: Organize your scenes into logical groups for better management and faster navigation.
- Restore Context: Automatically returns to your original scene setup after exiting Play Mode.
- Additive Startup: Automatically load additional scenes additively from Build Settings on startup.
- Favorites & History: Mark frequently used scenes as favorites and access recently used scenes instantly.
- Smart Search: Quickly find scenes using a search field with CamelHumps support.
- Hide Unused: Keep your workflow clean by hiding scenes that aren’t relevant to your current task.
- Seamless Integration: Fully integrated with the Unity Toolbar and Ultimate Editor Enhancer.
No more unnecessary scene reopening. No more breaking your editing context. Just faster testing.
