Runaway memory usage on 2021.2.0b13

Update: This is resolved by using 2021.2.0b15

I’m getting runaway memory usage on the 2021.2.0b13 editor. If I create a 3D (URP) standard project using a Unity Hub template, once I press play, it starts to leak about 20 MB/sec. Also, if I build the app, it won’t even start.

I also have the same problems when I tried to use the 2022.1.0a8 alpha.

On the previous beta (2021.2.0b12), everything works fine without the continuous virtual memory leak. Also, the built app runs fine.

I’m on:

  • Mac Mini (2018)
  • 3 GHz 6-Core Intel Core i5
  • macOS Big Sur 11.6
  • 8 GB
  • Intel UHD Graphics 630 (1536 MB)

Anybody else experiencing anything like this?

Hi @Protagonist ,

Could you please submit a bug report for this issue, ideally with a reproduction project attached?

Hi @LeonhardP ,

I have submitted a bug report (case 1368345).

The memory leak occurs using a straight-out-of-the-box 3D Core (URP) template off Unity Hub. Just create a new project with 2021.2.0b13, press play, and watch your virtual memory constantly increase. Do the same with 2021.2.0b12, and everything is fine, with no memory leak.
