What it is is a way for five technology/game companies to earn $5,000 each for their businesses and help them get necessary resources to realize their products. Many of the products are very early works in progress and ours is only about five weeks or so into development.
We are hoping to win the $5,000 reward to use the money to get Unity Pro, hire out some talent for sound design and some other random assets such as particle effects.
If you think this project looks interesting we would really appreciate any votes that we can get. You can watch our short promotional video below to see some of the assets we have made already.
In an effort to say thank you for all the support we are trying to put together some free goodies; including fun speed sculpt videos, blender tutorials, free commercial fonts, and other mysterious… things… Thanks again, and please leave some comments letting us know if you voted for us.
We don’t want to go to specific into gameplay because some elements might change, but in general terms it will be a 3v3 arena game in which each of your beasts have a set number of skills that are all useful in different situations, think Magic cards where some cards synergize with the abilities of other cards in a variety of situations.
Some beasts will be more utility based while others are more combat oriented. If you have ever played games like Dota it would be the equivalent of carries, supports, disablers, ect. If a player picks a team of nothing but beasts that deal large amounts of damage, they will be out picked by a team that has more flexibility and utility. So the beasts brought into battle actually matter more than just, “I have a fire type and a water type and a earth type so I have balance in my roster.”
Combat will be resolved in a pseudo real time environment where every skill has a casting time, and a cool down time. Long enough that strategic gameplay can ensue but quick enough that to some degree players with better twitch skills will be able to out play another player by playing the correct skills at the correct time.
Monsters are trying to be balanced right out of the gate so that a new player realistically has a chance vs a player who has been playing a longer time. The new player will have the disadvantage of having less beasts and skills but there is no leveling system so the new player’s beasts if used well can be just as pontent as a veteran player. The Veteran player will still most likely win but more because of their skill level and less because of the fact that they have played for longer. We don’t have level grinding and focus more on actual tactical and strategic battle.
There will be public matches, matches against friends, and regular tournaments. There will be an interesting ranking system and clan rankings as well.
I hope this was a little bit more informative, and thank you for your vote. If this sounds interesting, please try to get a few more people to the site to vote. Every vote counts and we honestly think that we stand a good chance to win this thing.
