Sand on beach

Hey guys, well I finally decided to get a mac and buy Unity, so you will probably be seeing a LOT of questions

  1. On the beach, the water looks Fantastic, but the edge seems off, then I thought, its the sand!

Normally is waves were splashing onto the shore line they would be affecting the sand that they go over.

Would there be a way to have the texture change ( or another layer left there) only under where the waves had been? I think that would look so much more realastic, just not sure if that could be done, or even worth it.

Your thoughts?

Jeff

I think you could do something like float polys at the edge of the beach (where the water washes onto the shore), and animate the opacity of a second texture (the ‘wet sand’ texture) to coincide with the water washing up on the shore, or you could do something like the actual foam part of the water does and accomplish the same effect with a texture with scrolling UV’s?
