Hi,
recently my Unity has become very slow at saving scenes. Even with a basic scene with one cube in, it takes a few seconds to save and I get the spinning wheel for a couple of seconds. Ive recently updated to 5.2 but not sure if this is the cause.
What happens is… Ill hit save, ill get the spinning wheel for a couple of seconds and then a progress bar will fleetingly popup, so quick that I can’t read it. Then it will pause for a while, and do the same thing again. Quite strange.
Would anybody know what a possible cause may be?
many thanks
Nick
Have you tried creating a new project and save a scene there? For me, Unity 5.2 is very slow on certain projects that I worked on before, but new projects will run fast.
No luck :(. This is a brand new project. I just tried creating another one just to be sure, but no.
After creating a new project, an error now happens every time I launch unity - not sure if this is related…
Moving file failed
Moving /Users/nick/Library/Logs/Unity/Editor.log/Users/nick/Library/Logs/Unity/Editor-prev.log:Resource busy
I really don’t know how to fix this, but have you tried reinstalling Unity and restarting your computer?
think that may be the way to go :-/ Are there any folders hidden away that I may want to delete? Like preferences/logs etc?
thanks
There might be some stuff in User/YourName/Library/Unity.
I’m pretty sure there is more, but I can’t find it right now.
Here is some more information:
But Library/Preferences doesn’t seem to contain Unity data for me, so I’m not sure about that.
Also, User/MyName/Library/Application Support doesn’t seem to include Unity data either.
thanks for your help! - if that doesn’t work I may just reinstall my whole machine :-/
turned off the ‘cache server’ and think it may have fixed it. Its saving as normal now - but there was a delayed reaction in it happened so can’t be sure
