i have a nice file browser to save my data. together with stream writer i can save text based data. but i really want to save a gameobject and its children. in my project the user can make a house and it all gets stored in a parent object. how can i save the parent object so i could load it in when the load button is pressed?

There are some Unity tutorials (and surely user posts, too) on the subject. Without repeating too much of that, have a look around for GameObject serialization or Unity serialization. Try that and see if it helps to start.
