Saving over 11mbs worth of generated data on New Game start

Hey guys,

I am currently working on a game that generates data everytime a new game is created. The data contains a lot of simulation information and I am currently using Easy Save 2 (Unity Asset Store - The Best Assets for Game Making) to save the information binaries to the local disk. Issue is that it seems to take forever to save the data… I currently have a loading screen which helps and I am using a Coroutine to spread the saving along frames… but it’s still too much time. Do you guys have any ideas or suggestions on ways to save loads of data faster or/and smoother? Maybe doing it in the background for a while? Different ways of saving? etc.

Any suggestions are welcome,

thanks.

If you are not relying on the data being saved before the game can start you could try to pack the saving into another tread(if the saving process is not using any unity engine functions).
That way you could do it in background on another thread / cpu core while the game is already starting.

Thanks fffMalzbier… I will need to research a bit about multi threading, I hear it can cause a lot of issues if done incorrectly?

i only have done some threading before (doing com port communication on another trad) but saving should be possible to do (not sure if it will work with Easy Save 2).
