I’ve had this issue for a while with all apps on Google Cardboard and have no idea whether it is just me or if its a known issue.
Basically all apps on Google Cardboard feel like the scale is off. For instance, the floor always feels like it is around knee height, rather than at my feet!
Does anyone else experience this?
Is this just a limitation of the lenses?
Is it an issue with my phone? (iPhone X and 6 before that)
Is it an issue with me?
Have I set the Cardboard up incorrectly? (Cardboard 2)
LOL I don’t honestly know whether my response is useful or just silly but are you particularly tall? I’m 6’2” and haven’t noticed this but could now just be… immunised (?) to it? I am surprised apps don’t ask players to input this info to improve comfort.
I’ll admit I’m working on a Cardboard/DayDream game for kids so sized down the player model etc to give them a more appropriate experience. I plan a height entry do they get what they’re used to but my game also already includes player scaling for certain parts
Maybe obviously but have you tried building the default app and googling with sizes to see if you can alleviate?
I’m just 6ft! the height thing I’ve considered is an issue that could be addressed in the games, a 5ft person probably does not want to feel 6.5 in game and vice versa. (but maybe they do?!)
So maybe my eyes are really far apart! Although I have measured my IPD and is fairly standard!
So @Arkade when you use cardboard apps, the scale feels correct to you. If you look at the floor, it feels like where your fete should be?
I should add, on the Vive, everything feels perfect!
