Hello,
Where would it be the appropriate place to report a person who has an active recent post about seeking a job as a programmer? He got away with $250 via paypal.
Hello,
Where would it be the appropriate place to report a person who has an active recent post about seeking a job as a programmer? He got away with $250 via paypal.
Well for a start, learn how to use contracts and milestones so this doesn’t happen. Asking for references is a good idea too. There’s not much you can do about a scammer because frankly, Unity isn’t able to do anything. Nobody knows the truth and proof is impossible.
What you can do is adopt correct business practises so that you don’t get scammed, ie design out the scam to begin with. This is possible.
You should raise a dispute with paypal immediately.
The dispute is already active, I just want to make sure he doesn’t continue scamming under the same identity and I don’t expect Unity to do anything about it. Proof is very possible and I don’t think anyone would use a programmer who has an active scam thread on him.
My friend, there is many scammers on this board, that is very little to be scammed for, currently I been scammed much more money and they really professional, its just sad that after many threads and complaints Unity do not help with situation by banning and removing users, checking IP address etc as one make multiple accounts.
I appreciate what you say, makes sense.
But what has Unity done now or in the past to help reduce the number scammers on the boards?
Unity really need to step up, how is it possible they allow scammers to continue scamming on your board repetitively and not having to even bother creating a new account? Is it even possible to post proof and let others judge? Unfortunately in his thread I get “(Please see reply restrictions that apply here.)” message and I’m sure his just laughing his ass off right now.
We do warn in the guidelines that this is done at your own risk. In reality there is little we can do, you can report users to us and we can ban them if we have sufficient evidence, but we are not investigators and tracking users by IP is extremely unreliable. In situations such as these we strongly suggest you seek legal help.
I think you are missing the point here. I have my ways of protecting myself if and when I do an upfront milestone payment as I have been online doing business for many years now to even get scam at this point. I just don’t want others who might not have the same experience getting repetitively scam over and over by the same user. Now can you tell me where do I send this proof too so that user can get his account ban?
Use the report feature on the users profile, feel free to PM me.
From the report, it doesn’t appear like you are getting scammed at all. In fact, it’s all questionable on your end, you need to sort this out between paypal, the seller and the third party involved. Please don’t create more threads about this user, if you have any issues, please PM me.
