Scissor Jack (clueless how to proceed)

I have a space freighter. It has a line of cargo pods. I want all the pods to be able to extend out from the row, so droids can load them. Like this…

The mechanism I have in mind to do this looks like a scissor jack.

Not sure ho to do this in unity - should I rig something up with bones? Is there a prefab asset anything like what I want? Or am I stuck using “tractor beams” or some such?

A rigged and animated piece of equipment from an external program like 3D Max, Maya or blender is your best shot IMO, because in those packages you can set up the system of bones with constraints, look at controllers and angle limiters. All which ‘could’ maybe be done in Unity, but would be similar to accomplish in a 3D package.
