Screen Resolution Question

Hi

I’m new to all of this so if this is an incredibly stupid question I’m gonna apologise in advance (sorry)

I have some artwork that I want to make into a game, it will be more of an interactive comic using still images with limited animations.
So I need to know how the screen resolution will affect the artwork. I am in the process of making it into vector art so it can be scaled. What is the best size for the artwork to be in for a pc and mac game?

Thanks for your time

Stewart

Hey!

Im dealing with handpainted graphics all the time, and if i CAN help it, i always use a screen res of full 1920, they way they look in Photoshop basicly. I have a testproject and as soon as i went down to like 1024 ingame they started pixelating. Im not sure tbh, ive sene my artwork on ipads and such and they look fine there, but thats because theyre shrunk ALOT plus the res on those things are pretty beafy these days.

Oh and ur doing vector so it really doesnt matter, since im guessing its gonna look likie vectorart aswell (the style) As long as u dont use too many gradients and tiny fancy shading methods, u’ll be fine on prettymuch anyting. If u use bitmaps however, u will have pixelation as soon as u go below the saved res on the image.

So yeah, on a PC for soemthing like that, i guess it depends on the detial u put into it also. I only work with 1920 most of the time, and even if i dont i still try to make the artwork look like it does on a PSD.

Thanks for that Kelde, I’ll give that screen res a try and run a small test

I checked out your “Current Project” and it looks great I really like the style of your work.

Thanks again
