screenCanDarken

Using Unity iPhone advanced 1.5 here. My project is based on the accelerometer wherein the user doesn’t have to touch the screen for a period of time.

To stop the screen from going dim I am using iPhoneSettings.screenCanDarken = false; in my start function. However, the screen is still going dark after about 30 seconds on the device (2nd Gen IpodTouch and iphone 3gs).

Is the start function the right place? Am I missing something else?

I am sure I had tested this before 1.5 release. What OS are your iDevices running?

3.1 iPhone and 2.11 iTouch. Both devices dim after 45 seconds. 15 seconds after that the screen shuts off.

I tested 2.1, 2.0, 3.0 and 3.1 firmwares with 3.0 SDK. I’ll retest with 3.1 and 2.2.1 OSes and 3.1 SDK. Thanks.

While our xcode SDK is updated to 3.1, we are compiling for OS 2.11. I mention this in case it makes a difference.

I am using very simple code:

iPhoneSettings.screenCanDarken = GUI.Toggle (Rect (200, 10, 200, 30), iPhoneSettings.screenCanDarken, " ScreenCanDarken");

3GS/OS3.1 has been idle for not less then 7 minutes. Still shining its screen. Same for iPod/OS2.2.1.
