I have a couple friends who are artists and who are interested in learning scripting for Unity.
I’ve noticed in the past there has been a lot of demand for scripting tutorials for beginners, and I was wondering -
Would anyone find video scripting tutorials with lots of visual aids / metaphores of any use? Or are the resources already out there good enough for people just starting out with scripting? (Especially artists)?
here is a good list of tutorials and videos that are aimed at newcomers, they have definitely helped me. But I have learnt most just by getting stuck in with the documentation pages open in the background.
There’s always going to be a need for as much help as possible to get started with scripting. I just launched UnsitScript.com just for newcomers with absolutely no programming knowledge.
the good thing is that people believing that they are able to script will not being able will get to 80% of the project where they would need to opt the performance and alike … and at that point they realize they can’t do it and have to hire someone and the first thing that someone will find out is that you fucked up the code that badly that the only optimization is redoing it from ground up.
save your project the money and hire someone early enough to prevent your project from dieing due to code that never had a chance to work outside a prototype
