Today, whenever I modify a script in Monodevelop, it will not update the script in Unity. I have searched through previous similar questions, and the solutions have not worked. Refreshing doesn’t work, Autorefresh is on, and restarting Unity and/or Monodevelop and/or my computer doesn’t work. The only way I have gotten it to update is to reimport the file. For more complex edits that effect multiple game objects, I have had to reimport everything to make it work. It’s frustrating to have to reimport every time I make any change to the script, so I’m looking for a solution.
The console will show errors in the new script if they exist. I can also see that the new version is in the project folder. Everything looks exactly as if the script has been updated, but when I actually run the game, it’s still using the old version.
I’m running the most recent update of Windows 10 and the free version of Unity. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
The problem is continuing and is now happening on all of my unity projects every time I update a script. Reimporting single scripts no longer works; I have to reimport all to get unity to update anything.
edit: I figured I would add this in case anyone else has the same problem. I couldn’t find any other solution, so I uninstalled unity and installed the newest version. That seems to have fixed the problem.
I have assets Procore and Leantween. I import and they show in the project panel, the demos and examples run, but there are no tool menu additions so I can not use the tools nor continue. My investors have threatened suing me. I have been trying to make progress for two weeks but to no avail. I am screwed. Oh and when this Unity situation is repaired I tell the investors to qualm their fears. Now I have another monkey on my back. "When do we see an update?’ Double screwed. I have wasted daylight developing into this nightmare. Then wasted daylight realizing there are Unity problems. Then wasted daylight reporting them. Then I will waste days trying to catch up in development. All for the sake of what? I feel like I am a participant in a self inflicted group wedgie. I dont need to write a game. Unity has me looking under this rock, then this rock. Oh, not there. What about this rock? Its shiny and maybe holds a treasure. How about this rock? The light is brighter over here. Have you by any chance RTFM? You are in a maze of twisty, turning passages. You are in a maze of turning, twitsy passages. You are in a maze of twitty, twerking passages. Oh good, its Monday and the gun stores are open. I think I will escape this paradigm shift and buy a new shiny gun.
