Interesting move … Pixologic apparently got the developer of Sculptris (a - so far - free 3D sculpting tool) to join Pixologic.
It seems including the sculptris license.
There’s not so much more info on pixologic’s website - it’s just in the forums.
Details are here:

It will be interesting to see whether they are trying to develop sculptris along Zbrush or at some point integrate it into the workflow.
I’m also still not sure whether this is awesome or questionable. Sculptris (while still being free, right now) was one of the better looking 3D sculpting tools to rival ZBrush on the free sector.
Ah well … we’ll se, no?
I can’t help but feel happy for the DrPetter, as he’s very deserving of his hard work.
Little scared of what might happen to my favorite Sculpting program though. Only time will tell.
Dynamic tessellation of subdivided meshes may be coming to Blender’s sculpting eventually, possibly somewhere in the 2.6x series, so there’s still hope of a free solution of similar power if Sculptris goes up. There’s already test builds of the feature actually.
The cool thing about it is that I’m pretty sure the “polygons where needed” functionality will find it’s way into ZBrush now sooner or later. I just hope that if it will be that way that it will also be a toggle feature. I also wonder whether they are going to try to keep the original mesh topology or try to get around this some way else.
I wonder if Sculptris’s interface might make its way into Zbrush.
The whole 2.5D thing in Zbrush puts me off.
I only tried Sculptris once, but if I recall correctly, it was much more intuitive to use.
