Security Update Confusion for Unity 2017.1.0f3...

I’m running Unity 2017.1.0f3, and received the e-mail notification of the Security Update ‘UNITY-SEC-844’, leading to this page with has patches for different versions of Unity - except for 2017.1.0f3 (the closest is 2017.1.0p4).

As my version isn’t in the list, I downloaded the Mitigation Tool and prepared to apply it - but I keep seeing warnings that I should instead ideally apply a patch for my current version (the patch for which, as stated, doesn’t seem to exist).

…So, I should probably go with the Mitigation Tool, but I’m seeing slightly mixed messages and no direct reference to the latest version of the Editor, which I imagine most teams not working on a long-term project have installed. I’m a bit confused.

Does anybody have any advice? Should I just damn the torpedoes and install the Mitigation Tool already, goddamnit?

Cheers,

2017.1 p4 or higher, is the version to use if on 2017.x

We were on 2017.1 p2 and moved to 2017.1 p4 yesterday.

The latest offficial version of each major patch has it fixed. The mitigation tool is if you can’t upgrade to the same major version.

Thaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaank you. Makes sense, but I was having a real moment of patch paralysis there.

Happens to us all
