Hey guys, I was originally going to animate between photoshop and unity until I seen this video…
Now they use Maya here, I would use Blender, but before I started I wanted to get some advice on any other software I could use to accomplish this that’s more suited towards 2D.
Spine are working on FFD and skinning on their software, they have a Unity runtime, also the new asset store comer Puppet2D which specializes in character rigging, skinning and animating. and finally Uni2D for general skinning and deformation. there maybe others but if you already are using a 3D package like Maya or Modo it’s best to stick with it until hopefuly unity integrates a skeleton and free form deformation to the new 2D system especially that sprite meshes and 3d skinning are already here, that way we won’t need but the good old Animation Editor.
