"Select Sprite" window becomes a list when I search on it

I recently updated to 2020.2.5f1 from 2020.1.16.f1.
When I search for a term in the “Select Sprite” pop-up window, it sometimes becomes a list instead of showing me the individual sprites. I found out that whether it will become a list or not depends on how many result are brought with the search. This makes the workflow nearly unusable for me. Is this an intended feature or is this a bug? If so how do I fix it? Here are some examples of what I’m talking about.

When the search term is “back”, it shows the sprites as expected, when I search for “card” there are a lot more results and I can no longer see the sprites. Why does this happen?

It happens the same to me, using 2020 LTS … and it is very unproductive I have to say… not sure whether is a bug or an expected behavior… but … if so it was a bad decision. The same occurs in 2021.1
