I have a scene with thousands of objects and elements, I want to select a text box visible on top of all of them. I click it in the scene view, and it selects some other thing behind it. If I keep clicking, it will select different objects, until eventually its gets to my text box, about 20 or 30 clicks later. Whats the better way to do to this?
It would be great if there was a way to click and it tells you everything at that location, and I can select what I want from there.
I don’t think there is a super convenient way, I’m afraid.
You could use the Layers dropdown to temporarily lock or hide the layer(s) of the objects that you are unintentionally selecting. But, of course, if the other objects are intentionally on the same layer as the text box, this won’t help you
You can also control what’s visible/selectable by using the column to the left of the objects in the Hierarchy. If you do this on an object that contains children, all children are affected as well.
