Selecting top most GameObject in Editor/ Scene in 2020?

I recently upgraded to 2020.1.1f1 (from v2019), but can’t find why when I click on a “Game Object” in the “Editor Scene window”, it is now selecting the bottom most game objects only, instead of the top most game objects.

Is there any option to set it to select the top most game object when clicking in the Scene window again?

(Ex: button A is over background B, clicking on button A only will select background B now, but renders in the correct order still)

Been dealing with this for almost two years. Hope a solution is discovered…
