Selling GUI skin?

I want to sell a GUI skin on the Asset Store but I don’t know how to price it… My skin contains 5 different window decorations that can be applied to a window by calling a function for each deco. 3 different titlebars (made custom functions to add titlebar, the default “titlebar” isn’t nice enough)… I have regular windows (no icons), chat windows and quest windows, a bunch of different buttons, progress bars (or xp/health/whatever-bars).
My skin would fit perfectly in a RPG or MMORPG game…

With this said; is $40 a fair price to set? I guess GUI skins aren’t on the toplist of best-seller assets? I’ve looked at other skins in the Asset Store, most of them have nice graphical elements but they lack customization… These skins are sold for $10-$20.

Can’t upload a screen shot of my skin, writing from my cell… But I can upload one tomorrow and maybe you could make a better statement/judgement…

Thanks in advance!

Yeah seems ok the top grossing in that category is 70 a pop, next is 15 followed by 35, you probably won’t be able to sell enough units at10 so better just to put it higher

“Writing from my cell” doesn’t mean prison-cell btw

Anyone here who’s selling a GUI skin on the store? Are there many buyers? Not wishing to get rich here but if I could get some extra cash every now and then it would be nice… I guess many programmers lack the ability to do graphic stuff, at least many of them.

I’ve seen a few skins (and other art assets) being rated down because the authors don’t respond to issues at all. If you can keep up the support and update the skins based on feedback, you can also demand a higher price.

People appreciate documentation. Include as much as you can to help people customise without needing to contact you. Higher quality source art is a nice bonus.

My skins are pretty simple but the fantasy one which is free now was originally $5 at that price is was in the top ten (top paid not top grossing) selling about 5 copies a month.

My other set sells about 5 a month at $5 too, although it not in the top 10 suggesting that the market is improving a bit.

Compare your skin to the top grossing fantasy set which has 46 elements and 15 icons… its $70. Is your quality and variation on par with that? If so $40 would be a reasonable entry price but don’t expect to sell more than 5-10 a month. You might be better of making it $10-$20 and going for bulk sales. Either way GUI is just not a big seller.

Wow just shows you no one is using unity GUI

Most GUI skins support NGUI too (including mine).
