Hey there! I’m currently working on a Hololens project from home, and I don’t have a physical device to test on whenever I want, though I will periodically have access to one. It will be a few weeks until I get to test on a physical device, so I was wondering If i could have a couple of questions answered.
So far I’ve been testing with the emulator inside unity. One thing I notice is that if I turn the camera to say 30 degrees in the z axis in the editor before i click play, when i play and the spacial mapping starts loading in the mapping data is orientated to the camera (so in this example, rolled 30 degrees). This means the floor is rolled to a 30 degree angle, and everything is not axis aligned. This would mean if I use the physics and gravity etc, then objects would appear to fall down and towards the wall, or if the angle was 180 degrees gravity would make things fall to the ceiling. Is there any way to re-align the world?
The other question that I thought of when I noticed this is say I mapped my living room, then I switched off the device and walked into the kitchen and switched the device back on again and then mapped the kitchen. Now I would have two areas mapped out that are disconnected. Also, using my first question, say i switched on the device in the kitchen but held the hololens upside down. Now i would have 2 areas disconnected and also, as the hololens was using different orientations to map everything, the two rooms wouldnt be aligned with each other rotationally. What happens when I walk from the kitchen to the living room mapping as I go along. Either the living room would be rescanned, or unity would realign it to fit with the kitchen. Which happens?
Thanks for taking the time to read and answer!
