Server always online ~ powered by website?

Hi,

I have a multiplayer game which is going great! I understand most of unity networking, eg: how to control players properly, rpcs, connecting, usernames, reduction of lag, etc.

BUT at the moment in the game, you must put an IP. How do I make it so that you need no IP and it just connects everyone (about 10 players) to a website or online host? Im not sure on the term either. Would it be Master Server? idk…

What you are talking about is called “discovery”. The short answer is you need to run a server for it, or you need to us someone else’s servers like Gamespy.

If you a re going to run your own server, you can build your own, or use “socket serve” like Photon.
