Hello,
i would like to play my self developed games with friends, but my new ISP doesnt allows port forwarding (because you can only use it with a special routermodem delivered from him where this options are disabled) and thus i’m looking for alternatives. Since i’m still using unity 3 (can’t afford 4, and don’t want to miss the pro features) the only option i see would be purchasing a windows-root-server to run my multiplayergames on it and be a client on them. The problem is that they are very expensive and for the money spend i could also pay a ‘better’ ISP. I would also like to not having to explain to each of my friends how to correctly setup their router to host my own games for me if we want to play together…
…So what can i do?
Is it in any way possible to host a server without beeing able to reply to incoming request directly? Perhaps with any kind of ‘relay’ tool/internet service/program that helps establish a connection with a client?
I would’ve googled that but i don’t know the words for it (if it even exists) and without knowing the proper words, google wont get me far.
Thanks in advance for your help!
