Shader Error Crashes GPU

Hi,

Possible Duplicate Issue: Unity Issue Tracker - Editor crashes when error is made in custom Deferred shader

Since changing to Unity 5.5 from 5.4, if I have an error in a shader, much of the time Unity will crash the GPU’s driver (kernel level).

EDIT: There does not seem to be any correspondence between error type and whether it crashes or displays the error in the Editor. Most of the time it crashes.

This is making shader development very very difficult. What should I do to get it to just display the error like it used to?

This is on a GTX 1080 driver version 372.70.

If anyone else is having this problem, it turns out a contributing factor is having the shader being used at the time. I disabled the script rendering with the shaders, and now I can work on them without issue, and re-enable when the errors disappear.
