Whats up with this?
The shadows are a really ugly black mess. I’ve seen this on other sm2 cards as well, using Unity.
What gives, and does anyone know a way of just turning the realtime shadows off and keeping the lightmap shadows?
On gfx cards that dont support real time shadows at all (like the gma950) only the lightmap baked shadows show, which looks okay.
I’m using an ATI Radeon x1200 ATM, so i guess its also possible that this is a Radeon driver issue, but I haven’t seen this issue on a Radeon 4870.
Is this just what Unity shadows look like under SM2?
bump
But all shaders in unity are sm2, so how could that change how shadows look?
I have sm3 card and your webdemo looked the same.
Oh, well then i’m totally ignorant as to what causes these ugly shadow, and I need help finding out why this happens!
Thanks for responding 2dfxman…
are you saying that on your computer you get these ugly black shadows too?
I get these ugly black shadows in the rainscape webplayer you posted in other thread, but never in my own projects.
The lines you get there, these teared shadows are from the shadow distance with forward rendering at least they were in my case. Got them too on a ported up island demo which I setup for UniSky toying (and my machine is a GTX280 on Win7 64, so not hw or gpu type dependent)
you need to balance out the various shadow settings to get good shadows
did you try solf shadows.
i know hard shadows look like the ones in the photo
