Currently, it looks pretty bad even with a short distance like 1 meter.
You can’t change the resolution, but you can change the maximum distance at which to render shadows, and lowering the maximum distance will result in a higher effective resolution for the shadows rendered. You can control this via the VisionOS Light Settings, which in turn affect the properties of the visionOS Shadow.
We’ve suggested to Apple that they add support for cascaded (directional) shadow maps to improve resolution for larger scenes. Feel free to suggest that to them as well via their Feedback Assistant.
