Hi, I had been baking my scene fine (using the Baked GI and not Realtime GI). Everything was working and then I decided to replace the skybox. After doing so, the shadows disappear at the exact moment the Building pop-up dialog box appears in the middle of the screen, and then are no longer displayed, neither in the editor nor the playmode. I get the impression that the shadows are being baked because before the Building pop-up dialog box appears the shadows go darker for a few seconds before disappearing.
I reverted the skybox back to the original to see if that would help, but it didn’t and the same problem persists. Any ideas what I could check?
Incidentally the Directional Light is set to Baked, it works when I set it to mixed, but then the frame rate goes down, so I would prefer to use Baked.
Thanks, but what do you mean by shadow density? Do you mean the intensity of the directional light, ambient intensity in the environmental panel, or indirect intensity in the general GI panel? I’ll try tweaking all of them to see what happens in any case, never thought it could be a bug in such a common process.
After spending more time on it I’ve released that the shadows do appear, but they are really faint, almost invisible. Is this actually a bug or is it possible I’m doing something wrong? The real-time lighting works fine, just not the Baked GI for static objects.
Shadows often go pitch black before baking finishes when it’s about to bake the AO. That’s just the direct light. Then I guess it layers/composites the rest of the lighting information to get the correct look.
Just use default settings and work from there. Reset your lights to 1 Intensity, 1 Bounce. Reset lighting to 1 Ambient Intensity (if using skybox), 1 Indirect Intensity, 1 Bounce Boost, etc.
