Sherlock

Been making a favorite character of mine, he is still wip, but I made a unity webplayer turntable of him.

Below, a making of thread in the polycount forums if you are interrested in the process…

That’s great! I love Sherlock Holmes. Very nice model, cool style. Are you going to make a game with him or are you just doing a modeling project?

I think that green is the wrong color. Go look up some of the BBC versions for research and color palette ideas;)
I think the model looks good though.

Thanks for your comments, guys!

This model is just for practice, as I mostly been working with simpler characters for our games and no normalmaps and so on.

The colors will be changed in the future. The green coat will be changed to lightbrown and an alternate one dark gray with plaid patterns on it.

I will also make a cylinder hat instead of the deerstalker and change the colours of the suit to almost black but with some definition.

I just started with the poisonous green in Zbrush while polypainting and had to stick to it to get the values right between the different subtools.
I will also try to simulate wind in the coat with syflex and try to attach bones or nulls to the vertexes to “bake” the simulation into an animation.

I am getting tired with this project and will try to finish it this week. Want to start on something new.

This is really nice, I like it a lot. Looking forward to seeing the different versions, especially suit and top hat. Great work.

Best Regards,
Matt.

Very nice start. Sherlock Holmes is a favorite of mine as well, although any fan would comment that the colors were just all wrong. Tweeds (browns and greys) are the norm for this character. Plus the overcoat is just too shiny. Otherwise I really love the character, you’ve nicely captured a lot of his essence.

Great character and very good quallity.
