shoot a 360° video within VR

Hi.

I just posted a question about a prerecorded guiding / tutorial avatar in any vr program and now I think if another workaround was possible:

How about putting a virtual 360°camera in a vr program, so either the user (HMD and controllers) or at least the users point of view gets recorded and then can be viewed in VR / as a 360° video afterwards?

Is this very dificult to achieve?
How would I do this?

Thank you
Nicolas

I haven’t seen your previous question and if this concerns some precise objective, I believe can’t help out without any details.

Here’s a link to an asset that records 360 videos either in the editor or in-game : [RELEASE] RockVR - VR Capture (Efficient and Convenient Recording Video) . Others exist with different features, I suggest searching the forums or google with the keywords “unity3d 360 video ingame recorder” if you’re looking for more results.

Cheers

Sorry. I forgot to paste the link to my previous post…

and thank you for the reply of course.

actually I need a 360° ingame video recorder for other programs than my own which is probably a bit more complicated.

Thank you!
But is it really possible to record any Unity software or just my own?

If you set up a UI hook, end-users can record in the apps you develop–on PC only.

Ok. thats too sad

That you can only do it on PC? We are looking at enabling this on mobile in the future. The only reason it’s not on right now is that the performance cost of recording video is very high.

No, thats perfectly fine with me.
I am sad about the program beeing only suitable for the apps I develop and not for any app (that is not my own).
I need a virtual camera that I can use in ANY program.

Amazing work! I didn’t catch that blogpost, thanks for the link!

Nickoheins, here’s an example on how you can record anything in vr :

Is this just an idea for keywords or did you find something there that is matching my needs that I missed?
