Shortcuts in monodevelop - working stupidly

Hi. I installed the Unity which installed the Monodevelop. But shortcuts work strange.

For example yesterday when pressing ctrl+ S - occurred nothing, and it was necessary to save the file is to press ctrl + shift + S.

I didn’t touch any Settings, but today - when pressing ctrl + S - the file is saved, but stopped working ctrl + c and ctrl + v. Instead it is necessary to press ctrl + shift + c and ctrl + shift + v. And thus ctrl + Z - doesn’t work in any option. WTF?

I tried to change Key Bindings in settings - doesn’t help. Tried to reset to default - does not help.

What should I do with this?

my os: Win7 x64

I found the solution. Installing an older version of the monodevelop from previous version of Unity. But I want to use the new. Has anyone found another solution?
This is a very unpleasant problem =/

I know my copy+paste stopped working on mono the other day. Closing and re-opening seemed to fix it for me though and I never touched any of the settings or anything.

I can confirm the same problem, except for me the shortcuts do completely random things. Like a few days ago, command+a was inserting a break point.

So, nobody from Unity team responded so far? I confirm the issue on latest unity+monodev for Win 8.1. Ctrl-F and F3 worked, but Ctrl-Z and others - didn’t. Restart helped. Any clues, why?

When discussing issues with MonoDevelop the Unity crew suggested I take them up with Xamarin. They weren’t being dismissive, the issue is that it’s 3rd party software that they don’t primarily develop themselves.

While I was having similarly ridiculous issues quite recently, much ot my surprise my current install is actually working ok. My biggest bugbear is the removal of the line/column indicator for the sake of a minimalist interface… the replacement for which is adding the eyesore of a column ruler (which a) has its own issues, b) is not barticularly minimalist, and c) does not address my use cases).

Visual Studio Express is free and much nicer to use

But does not run on OS X.

It does not, but the OP is on Windows =)

Surely there are some sweet editors on OSX though? Or maybe MonoDevelop isn’t as horrible on OSX?

It’s just as temperamental on OS X, unfortunately. Though currently it’s working well for me on two computers at once, which is quite surprising.

There are indeed some sweet editors, but I’ve not found one that doesn’t require jumping through some pretty lame hoops to work nicely with Unity. Sublime Text looks like great fun and if it’s good I’d be willing to pay the asking price for a license, but it needs a bunch of plugins installed to get the functionality I want from an IDE (code completion, etc) and since I haven’t taken the time to hook those all up yet I haven’t made a decision.

none of my shortcut commands even work.

what is the search shortcut?

I thought it was ctrl+v, but that isn’t doing anything

In most windows software search is ctrl + F (as in find).
