I am asking this because it is such a pain to work on a vr game when each time you want to test something you need to get on your vr headset and i feel like it would be much easier to have the ability to make some prototype without vr first and add it later on. Do you guys think its okay to add it later? Are there maybe better options? What do you think?
I think that you could switch to VR later by using the Oculus Integration package as I think it might be easier with this than OpenXR but it might be up to preference. You’ll have to manually integrate the VR function and allow the user to toggle between vr and non-vr, which is easy enough in terms of switching on VR scripts/capabilities and PC settings or whatever the game intends to run on other than VR.
This depends on the project. If you want to target for VR start working with it early on.
Make testing as easy as possible by using an XR simulator/emulator to test basic mechanics on PC, use wireless streaming, etc
