Should i use the island?

ok so if i want to follow the tornado twins how to make a video game from scratch ill have to use the island but people say it is bad now
can i still use it?
if not how will i get all the island stuff?

oh yeah im at the bit whwre i have to bring a first person controller into the game if anyone haqs seen the videos

I’m not too familiar with that particular tutorial series and I’m not too sure what’s broken with the Island demo in Unity 3.x but I would say there shouldn’t be too many problems. I’d say just go ahead with it. Or you can find yourself a different tutorial. Try 3DBuzz

ok i found out what to do with the tutorial but i will try some ones from there also

ok now i need some help- ive started doing this tutorial without using the island but now i need a fireball material to put on my sphere how would i add the island or just the sphere to my game?

You should be able to use the island just fine in the current Unity. I was able to use it without any issue. You can download it directly from Unity if it was not included in your download already. (Based on the folder I have the file in, I believe I downloaded it separately from Unity, but I do not remember for sure.)

Unzip the file once it is downloaded. You get a folder called IslandDemo. Move that to where you keep your Unity projects. Then just open it like you would any other project in Unity. (There is also an Islands.unity under Assets you can double-click on to automatically open it in Unity.)

When you first open the IslandDemo, Unity will spend some time updating it to the current version. Make sure you save the project again before exiting so you don’t have to wait through this process every time you open the demo. (I ended up creating a copy of the project in its default state after updating just so I could replace my island every time I got it too messy with my experimentation.)
