So let’s say I wanted to discuss something about say… electronics or something other than unity and game dev? Wouldn’t it be reasonable. There’s some knowledgeable folks here? Thoughts?
We’ve had this debate multiple times. Honestly even with those sections I’m more likely to go to Reddit to discuss them.
I think the Unity forum should be for the discussion of… Unity. Just my humble opinion.
Absolutely not. There is already enough noise that the mods have trouble moderating. For example, this one should be locked as it has been asked and answered over and over and over.
Please no.
I’ve been part of other forums with dedicated off topic sections. They really are a waste of time. They get filled with weird forum games, religion and politics, and a bunch of other generally annoying things.
If you want to go off topic, post in a dedicated off topic space. Facebook or Reddit or Twitter are great places to have conversations about total nonsense.
I’d like for each search on the Unity forums to bring up something at least tangentially related to game development.
Brutal.
But I suppose fair.
As far as off-topic communities go, the kind of people who post here aren’t the type who would benefit from it anyway. We come here to discuss game design with game designers, anything else would attract the wrong crowd. It’s hard enough to find people to discuss this kind of thing with.
You want an off-topic forum? It’s the rest of the Internet.
