Showcase forum changes

I briefly had a browse through the showcase forum today on the hunt for some new game releases.

Does anyone else feel that the showcase forum should have 2 sub forums, one for games and the other for game items ( models, editor extensions etc…)?

It just came across as rather messy when trying to browse, maybe I am just being fussy!

Not a terrible idea. It has my vote.

Agreed.

Then it’s one more forum that nobody browses and replies too :frowning:
Also it’s not like there’s 100 new threads there evyday. The first site displays topics from the last two days, which seems rather average-noisy, imo

I vote for this too. There’s a lot of plugins and stuff on there. Maybe have one for games, one for plugins and other things.

I also agree. The showcase is currently a mishmash between games and kits, and often you don’t know what is what by browsing the forum.

When someone wants to see new games, usually they don’t want to see kits, and vice versa… Are two very different interests.

We already have “Assets and Asset Store” … I wouldn’t post any addons / assets / editor extensions / plugins etc. I publish to the Showcase forum. In fact, I haven’t browsed it for a little while, either (and I buy a lot of stuff because I see it on “Assets and Asset Store” ).

I’d say Showcase is for games and Assets and Asset Store is for kits, add-ons etc. etc. … no need for yet another forum IMHO

I agree that the assets and assets store is what it’s for. But people aren’t following that. There needs to be a new set of rules enforced.

Indeed. Perhaps the Showcase could have an approval system like the Collaborators section. The only difference would be in Showcase anyone can reply.

I agree, when i first came to this forum and clicked showcase i was expecting only to see games in there. I guess it makes sense as any unity work, but its just a bit confusing to filter through. Having a section dedicated to games and another to tools would be really cool in my opinion.

Or maybe we just need a simple formatting of the title to fix this, but everyone has to follow the standard to make it work.

For example,
[Tool] Blinky - your next particle system editor.
for game tool and
[Game] The Cat has Purred - another endless runner.
for normal game made with Unity.

Maybe, if this is even possible, before you submit you had to select game or asset. Then, when it showed up, it would say [Game] or [asset] at the beginning.
