I Started a small tutorial series for creating a scroller shooter game. Each clip shows all you need to do. When the game is fully done i will upload all project files.
you can find the playlist and my channel here :
I hope you enjoy it.

Thanks but I hate following video tutorials, would much rather print out a text based tutorial, a LOT easier to follow IMO.
It’s my experience that when you are new with unity it’s easier when you actually see how things are done. We all have our own style of learning new things and i just like to share what i know for the fun of it. When the game is fully done however I will create a text document to go with it with all the little stuff that is done and explaining what it does.
While I agree with both of your points (text-based tutorials being helpful in areas where video tutorials aren’t, yet video tutorials being useful for new users), video tutorials are only useful for new users when there they’re 1) at a pace that a new user would be comfortable with and 2) accompanied by narration.
On the second point, when it comes to video tutorials, I prefer having each step explained so that I know what I’m doing, as opposed to having to predict what’s going to be created next. I tried watching your tutorials before I found this thread, as I’m trying to create my own scrolling shooter for a project, but I had to stop watching when you started on the first script; scripting definitely needs to be explained to new users (or anyone who isn’t particularly strong in scripting, like myself).
This project needs one more part so it will be finished. I will create a little doc that explains the scripts a bit and i will post it in here so people can use it as a example. At my place you can find many scripts explained in the magazine issues.
