Silex 3D

Just received a note about an upcoming product from the Quest 3D people:
http://silex3d.com/index.php/category/screen-shots/

Looks pretty nice on the graphics end.
I think this is their answer to the many requests for a usable program for the more artistic slanted, rather than the programmer type.
Which is why I came to Unity, couldn’t do much with Quest.

I saw that too.

Its nice with the trend starting with unity3d being free… then Crysis will be free…

So people forgot all about quest3d so I guess they need to do something… though by the videos for silex I am not sure what it is for… Just for 3d flythroughs?

I seriously doubt it (Silex 3D) will be free.

doubt so too.
nor will it potentially be of general use. the effects I see there clearly indicate a DX10+ bottom line.

also they clearly mention it as tech for interactive movies / walk throughs

Actually it will be DX9. That’s what they said on the Quest3D forums.

It won’t be free.

I hope they will post some screenshots of the Editor soon.

Yeah got it too.

But it’s written you cannot really create application.

As they said this is first for architecture project preview and Quest 3D is still better for interactivity, etc…

As Quest 3D user, I can say shader are still difficult for use in this software.
Really horrible to connect something and will create lot of conflicts in the scene about the renderer etc…

The only thing I saw that I haven’t also seen done with Unity are those procedural clouds:

That was truly lovely.

Yeah, I think the clouds are pretty nice as well.

Wow that’s really nice. I’m sure we will see similiar quality in Unityproducts after the Unity 3 realese. Why I think so? I don’t really know but I have a gut feeling
