Simplygon is coming to Unity!

I got this morning an email from Simplygon telling that is coming to Unity as a cloud service. Here is the complete quote:

And yeah, If you haven’t checked out go see by yourself: simplygon.com, it’s really powerful.

PS: Be aware, I’ve received the email like this. ^^

Something tells me it will be pretty expensive, but looks like a cool tool : )

I think it would be cheap, otherwise they won’t be able to compete in the Unity world. ^^

Tell that to the Scaleform guys as an example : p

I guess they are already having trouble to pierce the Unity world. That’s why price for Unity devs must be competitive/cheap. ^^
When you sell to the Unity world you are targeting thousands and thousands of developers (who by the way got a small budget in their pockets).

The licensing fee’s for simplygon with an Unreal game are more than Unity itself… I’d be interested to see what they do about that as there’s no way your average Unity dev is going to spring a few grand to license that when the engine itself only costs $1500

Well, Simplygon usage (a special version) is included for free with the UDK, so it’s certainly possible that Unity might work out a similar deal. If so, I suspect it will be another Pro only feature.

Interesting, wonder when it will release

I knew it they will make step into Unity sooner or later. Good choice for sure, there are many assets in Asset store that might not be suitable for Mobile and with this tool its simply a click solution to turn pretty much anything into IOS ready. Too bad it isnt comming as upgrade in Unity rather than standaloane license.

Simplygon for Unity will be based on a pay-per-asset model. During the beta however it is free and we currently need more beta-testers. You can sign up at: http://betasignup.simplygon.com/. We are looking for the opinions and experience of Unity developers make this plugin perfectly suite your needs.

This is indeed good news! I applied

I applied for the beta as well. That would definitely be an awesome opportunity as I’ve seen how usefull this tool can be while using it in UDK.
