Sinuous Sci-Fi Signs : Version 1.5 is about to go live!

Take a look at the album of images for v1.4 if you aren’t sure what SSFS exactly is. These images contain minimal editing and only a bloom image effect. ASSET STORE LINK

There’s a price increase planned for when the new version goes live, so make sure to get in on the $15 price tag while you still can over the next few days!

In version 1.5 of SSFS, we have an entirely new way to use the shader: as a post-processing effect! We also have a completely new hologram shader with effects similar to those seen in the base shader which will be included but also will be available separately in the asset store. Images seen in that gallery have no image effects or editing applied beyond a bloom effect.

Back to the base shader, all performance level versions of the main shader have been consolidated into a single shader with many optimization options. A ton of work has gone into this update under-the-hood, improving performance, organization, and getting rid of any graphical bugs or glitches, and we hope it really shows in the asset’s quality.

When the new version goes live on the asset store, I’ll create another post about it. When that happens, there will be a much more apprehensive list of changes and additional features coming with v1.5.

Our goal with these shaders is to provide a very stylized base to grow your creativity from. Our focus is on creating a simple tool that you can use to explore an expansive variety of results.

1.5 seem a nice update. Well done. :sunglasses:

Thanks for this asset ZJP, looks excellent.

I bought the last version and run the demos on Unity 2017.1.0f3 and unfortunately get only Magenta materials on all effects (Enclosed a screenshot of the “Demo Scene - Alleyway”). I am working on an iPhone game with Metal (iOS10+).

Any ideas what could cause this?

Thanks for your help!

Hey piegaro,
I’m sure you meant to address me rather than ZJP, as I am the publisher. Regardless, see if changing line 98 in SSFS.shader from:

#pragma target 5.0
to
#pragma target 3.0

solves your issue! This is a fix related to the implicit DX11 graphics target and will be addressed in the next release of my asset.

Sorry Thomas, I meant you of course :slight_smile:

I tried #pragma target 3.0 : The result is definitely better as I can see the textures and there is no more magenta surfaces (except on the 4th logo of the automatic demo, strangely). But clearly all the beauty of your shaders are not properly supported (see screenshots attached).

Any other things I could try?

When will you release a version that support Metal / ios10 ? (+I am developing on Mac)

Thanks again Thomas!

Any ideas Thomas? You might be on holidays :slight_smile:

Furthermore it didn’t compile on Android (Cloud Building), I receive this error:
[Unity] Shader error in ‘Sci-Fi/SSFS/Base’: ‘(’ : syntax error syntax error at Assets/Others/SSFS_v15/src/Resources/Shaders/cginc/structs.cginc(87) (on gles)

I just bought this but most of the effects are purple, did you test it with unity 2018 yet ?

Is this compatible with Unity 2018.1.6? Does this now work in Android and iOS? Can this be used on non-flat meshes?
