Skinned mesh dissapears when pivot is off screen

I have a skinned mesh which is just a pair of arms, for FPS arms holding guns.
the pivot is at the position of the feet. (below the camera) The camera is at head-position.

When I start the scene, UNity decides the arm mesh and/or weapon in hand is invisible or offscreen even though the objects are right in front of the camera.
Once I move the camera around with the mouse, then the arms then become visible.

OR if I just switch to scene view, where the object is visible, then back to Game view, then the object is visible.

I can’t tweak the bounds, as unity says it is read only.
I already have checked “update when offscreen”

This seems like a unity bug ?

is there any other way to force the arms to be rendered ?

Yeah I’ve had the same issue with a skinned mesh going off screen and going invisible. Then when it came back on screen it just popped in quite obviously. The only way I fixed it was by having the camera look at the skin mesh the whole time so it didn’t stop rendering, which does not sound like it will work for you.

Anyone else have ideas?
