Skinned Mesh Renderer not casting shadow

I have a character that doesn’t seem to cast a shadow:


You can see one version casts a shadow, and the bottom version is casing shadow from the backpack, but the character mesh renderer doesn’t seem to be casting a shadow. Shadows are turned on in the inspector:

Any ideas what might be causing this?

Have you tried deleting other objects from the scene? Maybe there’s a limit to the number of objects casting shadows.
