I have an empty scene with a camera and a FPS script attached to a simple GUIText.
If I run the scene on an iPad, I have 60 FPS as expected (kFPS = 60). As soon as I put a skybox (Standard Asset → Skyboxes → Sunny1), the frame rate drops down to 40 FPS. Is that expected? What can I do to improve this without compromising the skybox quality?
For info, skybox textures are 1024x1024 images compressed as RGB PVRTC 4-bits.
As you have only gui text in there, skybox will redraw whole screen. Are you using native resolution? If yes and changing this to standard get back to 60 fps then you are just fill-rate bound. If no - we’ll see 8)
I think it would make you choose for each skybox when you test your level of play, then press the Tab key to pay to pull the bars and then change skybox until you are right, do it in each level and adds them to her during excutable compilation.
