Hi, i’m Carlos, a 18 years old student of the major “Videogames design and development” in Madrid, Spain.
Im learning unity and i have one idea that i would like to comment and ask if unity could make what i want.
I’m thinking on a “game”??, i think its not exactly a game, its like a simulator, a very little project
What i would like to do is to let the player jump from a plane, free fall during 3.000m, open the parachute, controlls it and land in a good form.
I think i can start doing it in unity, just make a model of a skydiver in the free fall position, make an animation turning right, turning left, stretching the body, etc (first just the basic things, later i would make other animations for other movements)
Then i could make a level with the level attributes like the one of the 2D Plattform demo, make a camera and a script camera that allows the camera to follow the skydiver (in this project, only up to down)
I think that could be “easy”
Them make a model of an open parachute with the skydiver grabing the breaks, make an animation going left, other going right and the camera , later other animation landing. The camera can be behind the character, like in a Third person view.
For example, for the landings i have seen a cool simulator (Landing Pattern).
I think i can make it with the idea, the only problem that i might have is the scripts (im getting into programming, i learned “C” and im starting at college “C++” but i have followed a lot of tutorials of unity that make the scripts in javascript.
i have seen this open source project: http://www.flokas.de/baseforum/viewforum.php?f=67 but it is not made in unity, think the code is in c++ so i can get ideas from that. Im looking about how to.
What do you think about this project?
I don’t expect earn any money, i would like to learn with this project, and share the game to the skydiving clubs all over the world (i would make it in english)
