Slack Unity Dev Group

Hi,

If you’re a Slack user, we have a new Slack community dedicated to Unity developers. It’s a small group of us at the moment, but with a wide range of experience.

UPDATE: Use this new URL which auto-approves your email

Wow, I didn’t know other people used Slack. Neat!

There is a #unity channel in the gamedevelopment.slack.com group, but it’s not very active. Maybe it’ll be better to have a specialized group altogether.

I applied several hours ago but didn’t get any confirmation email yet.

@zombiegorilla People use Slack for pretty much everything nowadays. Check this list: http://www.slackchats.com

We use internally, but it is domain locked. I honestly hadn’t even heard about it 6 months ago. Now I prefer over just about anything else I have used.

How do they make money?

I’m incredibly suspicious of anyone offering me a great looking, obviously valuable service and not asking for money from me. It makes me wonder if I can trust them with my information.

Edit: Ok, I eventually found a pricing page. Neat.

Hi,

I’ve just responded to all the invites - please check your inbox.

Best regards,
Shaun

Applied.

Here I was thinking it was another hate thread about the Unity devs working slowly. Whoops.

I guess I go sign up and give it a go.

Applied.

Soon all the cool kids will be there.

Er… since we’re not a team I’m not sure what it’ll actually do for us. I’m mostly just curious to see what it’s like.

There’s a bunch of us in the group that have been working with Unity for a few years and are shipping commercial products. We thought it might be useful to chat to fellow developers about hard problems, share our progress, or help each other with domain specific problems.

I have a development team. However the various voices inside my head already talk to each other too much. I’m not overly keen to give them more rcfective communication tools.

Same! It’s sort of “next-gen” IRC to me

Applied to check out Slack, sounds interesting and I’m looking for better ways of managing the team atm
Bonus that I get to chat to all you lovely folk too

Cool, I didn’t know what Slack was. Joined the group.

Looks neat!

does it work if i already use a domain-locked slack ?

Nice! We use slack for all internal comms now so this makes things super convenient!
