My name is Jimmy Byberg and im the Founder of the SoR Project.
About the game
SoR starts around 280BC in the Roman empire. It stretches from Gallia to Egypt. SoR will be far from most fantasy mmorpgs since we will scrap close to 95% of the “magic” stuff and focus on realism as much as possible without getting boring.
There are today 3 factions - Rome, Carthage and Suebi (germanian tribe) and 3 classes - Gladiator, Archer and Assassin.
(Assassin class might be changed or mixed with the archer)
Thanks for all the kind comments. The character are more for testing. We are currently moving everything over from HeroEngine that we used from the start.
We havent done more then the camera and character controls for steering. Still some tweaks needed to be done. We dont have a coder that can help out as much as we would need so we are looking for one more scripter. The GUI design we have so we need to start getting it into the game.
Cause the scripting system is WAY to complex. For a coder that never used HE before it would take maybe 6 months to learnt he systems before he/she can even get started on the most simple stuff.
Well the story isnt really started on. We are not sure we even want a story yet. The game will be pretty open to do whatever. Even from the start the game will need the players to work together. everything from crafting, fighting and other social elements. The combat system will be far from anything like most mmo wich is why we are in desperate need of a good scripter atm.
That’s a pretty good thing to hear! The basic combat mechanics for every MMO is getting pretty annoying. Though, I fail to execute even the simplest programming rules. Writing is up my alley, which is why I’m so eager to hear the story for any game. If any game, even an MMO, fails to create a stable, yet intriguing story, then the game will most likely fall apart.
But good look anyways. I’ll keep my eye on this project.
