We are two guys that started developing using Unity about a month ago. We are working on a survival/horror game called Sleepwalker, and a couple of days ago we put together a first video showing the current state of the game. You can check it out at http://www.jungleisles.com/blog! We’ll keep the blog updated as we go forward, so make sure to drop by now and then!
Thanks for reading/watching, any feedback is highly appreciated!
Realy liked the action of the lantern and the cookie effect that moves with it.
The lanterns though, I did not realize what they were till you got really close to them. If you have the Pro version add Bloom or the free version try adding low range but high intensity light inside of the hanging lanterns, so players can realize that is where the light source is derived from.
Oh, thanks so much for the tip! I’ll definitely try playing around with an additional light inside the lanterns. Are you good with bump mapping by the way? Got this weird behavior with one of the materials, that when the light source is too close, the texture goes dark. Maybe I should try to capture this behavior and post in some support thread instead
Without playing the game myself, it could be that the lantern is too far in front of you. Also, change your Near Clipping to 0.1, that might help as well.
One part of the story will probably be that the player gets poisoned/drugged and thus some of the monsters/enemies will only exist in his imagination. That way, it won’t always be clear if something is a hallucination or actually real. We will shortly begin modeling/implementing enemies, and of course show them in a new video
