So external SSD is worst for unity project.

I have used samsung portfolio 256g and ADATA 256g.

It seems those can’t be tolerate own temperature.

Failure examples.

  1. Unity just can’t open project. Scene file disappears or become 1kb and nothing there. (originally over 30mb scene file)

  2. While unzipping, unzip stopped because drive disconnected. I should manually unplug and plug it again physically.

Now I decide not using them. Maybe I should use cloud drive for work home and cafe or workspace.

For portable drives I always recommend buying a custom enclosure and putting your own drive into it. I’ve never run into problems with overheating but then I’ve always been able to buy enclosures with fans for actual HDDs and aluminum cases for SSDs.

Can you link some of your used product? I want to buy it too. Little SSD case default can’t fully cool its own heat.

Crazy as it may seem my ADATA Premium Pro internal SSD was inside of this thing for a while (it’s in a laptop now).

Getting the drive into it is a bit odd. You need to fiddle with the latch before it truly locks into place.

Thx.
But my ssd is this. ADATA SE730

I don’t know that case can be used for this.
Maybe need disassemble SE730 and input that case?

Under the hood it’s SATA. Though you might have problems getting it into a custom enclosure since it lacks a case.

Compared to a normal SSD though it’s just a shorter module.
