Just downloaded Unity 3 and it looks pretty cool. So I was wondering is it easy to use, and is it possible to make any kind of game with it? . Also is it close in graphical power to the UE, I’m not a fan of it but i do like the graphical power of it although the only thing I have access to is the UDK, but I heard that isn’t very open since you can only make mods or FPS and I want to make an Action/Adventure game, and Unity seems like my safest bet, but I just want to be sure before I really dig into it because I have this great idea for a game and I really want to see how it turns out for me so all the advice/help would be appreciated. Thank you.
I find it straightforward to use. Try for yourself. ![]()
I wouldn’t say it’s the best tool to make every king of game, but it’s a good tool for implementing a wide variety of game genres, perspectives, and platforms including more than likely your action/adventure idea. Of course, beyond the idea, your game’s probably going to require marketing, scripts, models, music, sound effects, funding, etc. Best of luck to you!
I’ll add you probably want to begin with a tutorial that shows you the steps to make one game, such as the 3rd person platformer tutorial on this site (http://unity3d.com/support/resources/tutorials/). You could also check out the Tornado Twins, BugZerg Arcade, Design3, or a book on Unity game making.
If you have a skill you can demonstrate (programming, 3d modeling, animation, music composition) the Collaboration forum is useful for finding others to team up with.
Thanks for all the info you are giving me it’s really appreciated man I’m checking it all out right now : )
No skill whatsoever as of YET but I do intend to learn, I am smart and work hard to do what I want.
