I have a 3D simulation, it is fairly heavy and uses terrian. I am working on making it run it better, however the level won’t load on ipad1, but runs fine on ipad2 and iphone 4 (i haven’t got a iphone 3 to test on yet).
Are there things unity can do on an ipad2 and not 1? Please help!
Well in the end I think I have tracked it down to the terrain. The ipad2 can run terrain fine, however when I take the terrain out it at least runs on the ipad 1.
Now I need to figure how to turn my terrain into a simple mesh and see if I can get that to work.
Can you tell which device the user is on? So load a different scene if the user is an an ipad 1 compared to 2.
Or using smaller detail and heightmap cause at the default sizes they are pretty heavy (the terrain keeps the heightmap, detail map, splat map etc and distribution maps for detail and foliage in memory. that can easily fill 50-70% of the RAM at hand on an ipad1 / itouch4 with “i want it to look nice” settings)
